2014 Proposal Suggestions
We are now accepting proposal suggestions for the 2014 Technical Program
- All proposals MUST be submitted electronically
- If you have created a user name and password (to submit an abstract) for Pittcon 2013, you can use that information. If you have not created a user name and password, you will need to create one to submit your suggestion. (Click on the Create User Account box at the bottom of the page.)
- Deadline for submission is April 12, 2013
Message from the 2014 Program Chair, Amit Ghosh, Ph.D.
Plans for the Pittcon 2014 Technical Program have already begun. As Chair of the 2014 Program Committee, I invite you to start planning now for next year’s Conference in Chicago. We are currently accepting proposals for Symposia, Workshops, and Organized Contributed Sessions. All submissions are to be submitted electronically on the Pittcon website.
In addition, during Conference Week in Philadelphia, I will be available from 1:30-2:30pm Monday through Thursday in the Program Office (Room 119A) to discuss your ideas. Please feel free to stop in.
The timeline for review of the submitted proposals is rather tight, so in order for the organizers to have enough time to arrange the sessions, the Program Committee will review all suggestions in late April 2013. Therefore, the deadline for proposal submission will be April 12, 2013 – please note the deadline-it’s not far away!
Proposals for symposia are being sought in all areas of analytical chemistry and applied spectroscopy. In addition to the classical analytical and spectroscopic topics, areas such as bioanalytical chemistry, nanotechnology, environmental analysis, food analysis, forensics, pharmaceutical analysis, and life science technologies in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, high throughput screening, and drug discovery, as well as chemical applications on art objects, energy research and education are also solicited.
In 2014 there will be a continued emphasis on program quality, particularly in the area of poster presentations, including e-Posters, which have and will continue to grow, and there will be fewer oral contributed sessions. We have been working for the past several years to make the whole program experience-the Technical Program, Short Courses, and Conferee Networking-as streamlined as possible in order to give conferees their best educational and networking experience. Suggestions are always welcome; drop us a line if there is a way we can better serve you as a conferee.
The general Call for Papers will be sent out in June, and the deadline for contributed oral and poster abstracts will be in mid-August. As always, abstracts must be submitted electronically via the Pittcon website in order to be considered for the 2014 Technical Program.
